Contemporary rectangles are the standard in our collection of authentic Caterpillar eyewear. Offered in silhouettes running the gamut from classic to contemporary, in full-rim, or semi-rimless styles, these frames are elegant enough for dressy occasions, and durable enough to serve as your everyday pair. Sleek metal frames, constructed in sturdy Monel alloy in glossy or matte gold, brown, black, and gunmetal, offer a modern profile, while chunky frames in luminous and color-saturated acetate, a rugged plant-derived plastic, come in retro-inspired shapes. On-trend details complete the look: Find temple cutaways and patterned temple arms in varying shapes, including skull temples and modified shark fins. Each pair of frames is lightweight and designed for comfort. Adjustable acetate temple tips and nose pads, monoblock spring hinges, and contoured bridges ensure a perfect fit in every pair.
Caterpillar crafts safety eyewear to exacting standards using only quality material. These frames are constructed from sturdy safety lens-ready metal, with shatterproof side shields for unparalleled workplace protection. Safety eyewear frames come in larger sizes, for a secure and comfortable fit on a wider head, and each style meets American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards. Other comfort features include adjustable silicone nose pads that keep your glasses where they should be, monoblock spring hinges to allow for a gentle fit, and adjustable acetate temple ends to prevent pinching behind the ears. Removable or permanent shatterproof polycarbonate side shields offer added workplace protection.
Caterpillar was founded in 1925 as the result of a merger between the Holt Manufacturing Company and the C.L. Best Tractor Company, but the name ‘Caterpillar’ originated long before the company. In the early part of the 20th Century, Benjamin Holt was looking for a way to improve the traction and mobility of one of his company’s steam tractors. He replaced its wheels with wooden tracks bolted to chains so that the machine would crawl along the ground. Someone remarked to Mr. Holt that the machine reminded them of a caterpillar; he agreed, and the continuous or ‘caterpillar’ track was born. The company continues its dedication to innovation and quality craftsmanship as a leading manufacturer of industrial safety equipment, including protective eyewear.
