The Costa Untangled Collection: Recycled Sunglasses Frames

Every year, an estimated 640,000 tons of discarded fishing nets and gear pollute our oceans.

No form of ocean plastic pollution is more dangerous than discarded fishing nets. Costa has joined forces with Bureo, a company that works with fishermen to prevent discarded nets—a byproduct of the fishing industry—from polluting our oceans and harming marine life. Bureo turns these nets into pellets, the same raw material used for injection molding.

Recycling Nets Into Sunglasses

Discarded fishing nets are collected from commercial fishing ports in Chile.

Bureo recycles the nets down into a raw material in the form of pellets.

The pellets are molded into The Untangled Collection sunglass frames.
