Persol PO2886V - Folding

I am on my 2nd pair of the Persol PO2886V folding eyeglasses. Mine are not prescription glasses, just 1.5X readers. The glasses fit well and have a quality heft and of course, are trimmed with the classic Persol arrow and bar motif at the hinges. That said, my experience would indicate glasses will eventually fail at the bridge hinge and the temple hinge where the temples fold in half. I had my first pair for about 3-1/2 years when the right eye frame section broke away from the nose hinge, a non-repairable condition. Also, probably at least a year prior to that, the right temple hinge failed so that the temple bar would not stay locked into the unfolded position, resulting in a 'floppy' temple. These conditions were not a result of excessively folding or unfolding the glasses as I had a custom case made so I could always carry them in the unfolded position. That said, I like the look of these glasses enough that I recently bought a replacement pair. Hopefully, my issues with the first pair were a fluke and I will have better results with the 2nd pair.

After purchasing a pair of Persol sunglasses, thought I'd purchase an everyday pair with progressive lenses. I was immediately drawn to the po2886v. And being labeled on the site as "Progressive Friendly", immediately bought a pair. Sorry to say but these do not work at all. They are so small that they should be labeled as "readers". Had quality issues with screws as well. Took these to a couple opticians who agreed these are readers, and would not help with the screws due to liability issues. Bye, Bye Persols. Still love my sunglasses though and wear them every day!

Classy looking Italian made Persol. It folds and very convenient. I put it in my shirt pocket. Anthony Bourdain same style introduced me to it through his Travel/CNN series. Ordered it Frames Direct and I am very satisfied with it. Excellent customer service indeed!! I bought previous 3 sunglasses already from Frames Direct and been highly recommending them!

A great pair of frames and one of the only ones available for prescription lenses. The only improvement would be a smaller more pocket sized case.
